Permanent & Removable Adhesives
One of the first decisions to make is whether you need a permanent or removable label. Both types are designed to be applied in temperatures of about 55°F to room temperature for best results.
Permanent Adhesives
Permanence depends on several factors, including the adhesive, label material, surface type, environment, and time. All of these should be considered when selecting a pressure-sensitive label.
A permanent label is designed to bond strongly to a surface and usually cannot be removed without damaging the label or the surface. However, no adhesive is truly permanent—some are simply more difficult to remove than others.
Removable Adhesives
A removable label is designed to stick securely while still being easy to remove for a certain period of time.
Timing matters. Some adhesives labeled “removable” can become more permanent over time. Depending on the surface, adhesion may increase, making the label harder to remove cleanly or without residue.
Surface type also plays a role. Labels are usually easier to remove from rough surfaces, but they may not stick as well in the first place.
